We proudly present the Croatian society for medical hypnosis (HDMH) approved on the 53rd conference by the Main board of the Croatian doctor´s association on November 19th 2002, based in Zagreb, Šubićeva 9, within the CDA.

HDHM gathers eminent authorities from various fields of medicine, especially the field of psychology. The basic goal of the society is in accordance with the statute goals of the CDA and strives for psychohygiene of the croatian man, as well as the constant education of younger medical experts with the aim to keep their knoledge in Croatia.

We would like to inform you that our society now received for the second time the opportunity to organise an international symposium for medical hypnosis in Croatia.

The participation of expert societies from European countries and USA (DGH-Deutsche Gesellschaft für Hypnose, Medizinische Hypnose Alpe-Adria, MRI-Mental research institute Palo Alto, ISH-International Society for Hypnosis, MEI Milton Ericson Institute Phoenix Arizona) testifies about the significance of this event.

World-famous hypnotherapists will share their broad experience in all fields of medical hypnosis and hypnotherapy.

Until now many international studies have been published, which confirm the effectiveness of hypnotherapy and medical hypnosis. Medical hypnosis holds a wide spectrum of application, starting with the ones which include hypnotherapy, to practical usage of clinical and dental hypnosis. Very good results are achieved with the following sicknesses: migraine, irritable bowels, asthma, inorganic sexual disorders, chronical pain, anxieties, phobias, sleeping disorders, supportive approach to patients under chemotherapy, birth preparation, tinnitus, speeding up convalescence after different kinds of injuries, as well as a very important aspect: dental hypnosis. The percentage of efficieny on all levels is 70%. Many studies have shown large effectiveness of combining hypnosis with other psychotherapeutic techniques. These studies were carried out on scientifically highly reputable institutes and clinics.

We would especially like to point out that our society includes, among others, system family therapy, which in Croatia is not sufficiently represented. Within this symposium a "significant step" would be made in that direction. System family therapy is of very big importance for Croatia considering decreased natality, increased divorce rate, intensified stress situations in everyday life, adolescence problems and other. We are sure that by systematic introduction of system family therapy the quality of life of many families would be improved and it would be a contribution to betterment of young generations.

One of our eminent lecturers is M.Prof. Stefan Geyerhofer (Webster University USA), one of the founders of WIST, the Viennese institute for system family therapy. Prof. Geyerhofer is willing to help us in creating a positive surrounding and a way to establish system family therapy in Croatia.

The symposium will be held on June 15th - 22nd 2005 in the hotel "Millenium" in Opatija. Hereby we would like to invite you to attend the symposium, as well as to give us an opportunity to show you news and achievements in medical hypnosis.
